We all love dressing up; and we know it’s not just about covering our body. Especially for most of us we are specific about the fabric, the cut, the style, the colors and of course most importantly the size that is fitting and makes us feel good inside out. If we look back over the years fashion trends have been changing based on what looked and felt good at any point in time and we changed according to changing times.
Right from childhood our parents dressed us according to our size and kept changing them as we grew each year; since the ones from the previous year won’t fit us anymore. If we still tried to continue to wear it and fit in; for sure it felt uncomfortable and tight and many a times out of fashion too. So we constantly were updating our wardrobe with beautiful pieces of clothing that was well fitting, showcased our best self and most importantly made us feel confident and happy.
It’s that simple right?
Now let’s take a look at our beliefs.
Most of us hold on to beliefs that we gathered in childhood from parents, grandparents, other family members, teachers, and peer groups. We keep them locked safe in our mental wardrobe over the years. Our beliefs are so powerful that they pretty much drive all the choices we make and the actions we take.
When clothes become tight or out of fashion it’s easily visible in the mirror and we replace them and make the change effortlessly and easily; however when it comes our beliefs we seldom take time to reflect and check if those beliefs from childhood / previous years – are still serving us or are they outdated now just like ill-fitting or tight fitting old fashioned clothes. These old beliefs are mostly causing us discomfort like the tight clothes thereby causing inner and outer conflicts around us and limiting us from growth.
Now imagine getting up in the morning and choosing to wear a well-fitting, bright colored perfect looking outfit and looking at the mirror. What emotion does that evoke? Confidence, Grace, clarity, beauty, focus and whatever else that may be coming up for you leading to an overall sense of contentment and happiness.
Knowing that you always have a choice to build a beautiful wardrobe of beliefs that serve you and bring out the best in you is the first step.
So let’s take some time to open up our wardrobe of beliefs and reflect upon them in the mirror to gauge
· What old belief are we holding on to today?
· Are they limiting beliefs (like that old fashioned ill-fitting outfit) that doesn’t serve us anymore or liberating ones like a new perfectly tailored complimenting dress/ shirt?
· What beliefs will serve us today to be the greatest version of our self now and looking ahead?
· What can we do to keep our wardrobe of beliefs updated based on changing goals and dreams?
· Make your list & let’s shop for the right beliefs thereby building our wardrobe for a beautiful future.
Happy shopping and organizing and reorganizing your wardrobe of beliefs that are a perfect fit for today and the ongoing future.
